Burning Wrath Condition catalyst: Guild Wars 2 Pve guide

Build ROLES: Condition DPS

If you are looking for the easy dps and simple builds well… look elsewhere! This is a simple build in the sense that you use your abilities essentially on cooldown but the crux of basically all elementalist builds are that they typically include some heavy button mashing. Well i’m going to break it down as simply as I can for you!

Skills

The skills of the Burning Wrath Catalyst focus on autopilot options, signets which offer the passive and active effects as well as elementals that focus on attacking and applying more burning. Signet of Restoration, Signet of Fire, and Signet of Toughness are going to be bolstered by the Written in Stone grandmaster trait in the earth line. This trait allows the signet passive effects to remain while your signets are on cooldown. Very Cool!

The Glyph of Lesser Elementals and the Glyph of Elementals are going to be used only for the fire attunement elementals as these provide the greatest dps boost out of all the elemental choices. The Glyph of Elementals elite skill is fairly straight forward and should have the flame barrage ability used off cooldown.

Traitlines

The traitlines of this build are Earth, fire, and catalyst. The earth line we are going 2-1-2. This’ll improve overall condition damage and give us a little bit of extra strike damage on our targets. The big skill here is the Written in Stone grandmaster trait which improves our signets and gives us the passive effects with 100% uptime!

The fire line we go 1-1-1 as these improve our condition damage further but also give us a chance on critical hits to inflict more burning damage. Our grandmaster trait, Persisting Flames gives us increased strike damage every time one of our fire fields deals damage in this case this is triggered by our deploy jade sphere fire.

The Catalyst traitline focuses on general damage improvement from the Empowering Auras and the Empowered Empowerment traits. Empowering Auras grant us increased damage for a duration everything we gain an aura up to 15% increased damage. Empowered Empowerment gives us double the attribute bonus from our Elemental empowerment baseline ability. This requires us to get as many Auras as we can to maintain uptime. This will become more apparent as we talk about the rotation.

Gear Stats, Runes, Sigils, infusions

For your gear stats, we are running Vipers primarily as this gives us all the stats we need, critical strikes, condition damage, expertise, and some power. Overall an excellent choice for any condition damage build. For your rune, I personally like the Rune of Balthazar as this provides incredible condition damage as well as burning damage improvements. The big effect here is the 10% increased hp pool which as an elementalist you severely lack!

Your infusions are going to be either aimed to improve condition damage or expertise although I lean towards condition damage.

Your weapon equipment will mirror the rest of your equipment in the sense of going for Vipers stats as well as condition damage infusions. Your sigils however will be Sigil of Earth and Sigil of Bursting. This improves condition damage as well as giving you extra bleeding on critical hits. Remember our trait in the earth line Serrated Stones gives us increased strike damage on bleeding targets. This essentially guarantees we will have some bleeding.

Consumables

For your food I suggest, Koi Cakes, as this provides a cheap alternative for condition damage improvements. Your enhancement choice is Toxic Focusing Crystal for the added benefit of increased condition damage based off of your power and precision!

Rotation

Your rotation is a bit button mashy but hey that’s what Elementalists are at their core! Before you begin, start in fire attunement and summon both fire elementals (Normal and Elite). As combat starts, use all signets and flame barrage. You will be using these off cooldown as they are a significant amount of free dps.

Your weapon skills are going to be utilizing all of the damaging abilities which are as followed

Fire attunement- 3 - 2 - 4 - 5

Earth Attunement - 3 - 5 - 2

Air Attunement - 3 - 5 - 2

Water Attunement - 3 - 4 - 5 - 2

Repeat!

This rotation also implies that you are setting down as many deploy jade spheres as possible to create your combo fields.
